The Puerto Misahuallí Parish, initially maintained a large commercial movement on the riverside since there were no access roads. Misahuallí, according to the legends of the villagers attribute their name the fact that there was no electric power. before and that had to use wax candles, which were called "hualli" while the masses were performed, from there they gave the location its name Misahualli "mass with candles". They also comment that "hualli" means "trunks", which brought in abundance rivers when its flow grew or increased.
