Cañar, part of the 10 provinces of the highlands of Ecuador, is located within the southern region of the country which is characterized by the formidable mountain barrier south of the inter-Andean alley and it was the main core of the Cañari Culture.

- Ruins of Ingapirca: It is a genuinely Inca construction. The archaeological complex is located in the Cañar Valley, it was previously known as the province of Hatun Cañar (Quichua: Hatun Kañar), which means "the big place of the Cañar”. It is considered an archaeological treasure.
- Biblián: Where the well-known Shrine of the Grotto of the Virgen del Rocío is located, of surprising beauty. On top of the hill the Cathedral is an amazing building.

Cañar Province customs and traditions
- Most Important Holidays: The Provincialization of Cañar, which re held every year, every November 3.
- Inti Raymi (As of June 17); It is one of the traditions that has the legacy of the glorious past of the Cañari-Inca nation.
- Taita Carnival: Starts 5 days before the last or penultimate week of February and also consists of the Pilgrimages of the Virgen del Rocío for 20th January to September 8th, as well as the pilgrimage of the Virgin of the Cloud on January 1st.
- Activities of the Festivals: The Inti Raymi, is the feast of the sun and the June solstice harvest.
