Paute Canton

• In Paute there are hostels that offer lodging, swimming pools and restaurants with delicious national and international cuisine, which invite you to know and discover the flavors, emotions and sensations of this beautiful canton of the Province of Azuay.

• In the same way we have majestic tourist places such as the Paute Hydroelectric Power Plant, which is located on the Paute River, 115 kilometers away from Cuenca.

His worship comes from Biblical testimonies, St. Matthew chapter I, where he tells that Mary was committed to Joseph, but she became pregnant by the work and grace of the Holy Spirit and so that they would not defame her, Joseph married Mary and they had a son named him Jesus; for this reason José represents the image of generosity, whom the people of Paute revere. Paute tourism

The Paute River it is one of the main attractions of the canton, but we can also highlight some tourist attractions and activities that you can do here.    

• The most common place for paragliding is the Cerro Cabeza de Perro, and you must walk 20 minutes to the flight path, another option is the Marco Loma Hill.    
• The El Cabo sector, located at the entrance of Paute, delights tourists in gastronomy with roasted chickens and guinea pigs, pigs, corn, wheat tortillas and guarapo; the premises preferably attend from Friday to Sunday.          
• You can enjoy the baked pig in the La Concha sector, two blocks from the central park of the canton that serve you throughout the week at uninterrupted hours.
• The resort of Las Huacas that is located a kilometer and a half away from the main road of the Zhumir sector, amid high hills and abundant vegetation; visitors can bathe in mineral waters and access mud baths. According to Diego Wilches, owner of the place, these waters and sludges have healing properties "scientifically certified" for diseases such as rhinitis, arthritis and rheumatism . Huaca means burial, because here ancient vessels would have been found, many of which are part of the unique decoration of the place. You can also rent cabins for lodging and horses for rides.             
• From Cuenca to Paute there is a distance of 42 kilometers, by the of El Descanso- Puente Europa highway. At the Chaquilcay toll station you must pay 0.50 cents, so the artery has ambulance and towing services.

Transport

In the case of public transport, buses to Paute are taken at the Terrestrial Terminal, in the Paute company with departures from 06:00 to 18:00 and in the Cutilcay company from 06:30 to 19:30, at a cost of 0.75 cents. Paute is considered a point of union between the regions of the East and the Sierra, it enjoys a climate that varies from 15 to 26 degrees Celsius, which is why you can find different options in hostels and cabin rentals.
