AMAZON PROGRAM IN SUPERIOR LODGE
Day 1. QUITO ~ AMAZON: LAGO AGRIO ~ CUYABENO RESERVE
- Flight to the Amazon to Lago Agrio airport, transfer to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve. Box lunch.
- Then canoe transfer on the Cuyabeno River to a superior lodge. During the canoe ride, you will get a first glimpse of the amazing nature and some animals.
- Arrival at the Lodge. After a nice siesta, swim in the Cuyabeno lagoon and watch a beautiful sunset. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 2. AMAZON: CUAYABENO FLORA AND FAUNA
- After breakfast, walk in the primary forest for 3 to 4 hours where your guide will explain also the tropical ecosystem. You will learn about medicinal plants and possibly see birds or monkeys. Return to the lodge for lunch. Possibly observe the pink river dolphins or an anaconda.
- Transfer to the lodge for dinner, and possible night canoe ride to look for caimans.
Day 3. AMAZON: SIONA COMMUNITY ~ SHAMAN OR NIGHT FOREST TOUR
- After breakfast, we head to visit a family of the Siona Community of Puerto Bolivar, the largest ethnic group in the region. You will learn their customs, traditions and way of life. You will be part of the preparation of "Chicha", a local beverage of yucca. During the canoe ride, you can admire the existing fauna along the Rio Cuyabeno such as birds, monkeys, snakes, pink dolphins and tortoises.
- Lunch in the community. Return to the lodge, visit the Shaman, the spiritual healer of the community OR short nocturnal hike through the primary forest in search of insects and listen to the night sounds of the jungle. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4. AMAZON: CANOE RIDE ~ FAUNA WATCHING
- After breakfast, canoe ride in order to observe the flora and the fauna and then to enjoy a brief stroll through the forest to appreciate a great variety of birds and monkeys. Box Lunch and a relaxing break. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5. AMAZON: CUYABENO ~ LAGO AGRIO ~ RETURN TO QUITO
- Early in the morning, a possible bird-watching excursion. Back at the lodge, breakfast and then canoe and land transfers to Lago Agrio for flight back to Quito.
